Solar energy systems use the sunlight to convert sun rays into electricity. Most systems are warrantied for a minimum of 25 years, providing carbon-free, clean, and reliable energy for many years. This technology of converting sun light into electricity is referred to as photovoltaic energy.
Mounted on a roof, solar cells are grouped into solar modules. These modules generate direct current (DC), electricity which is similar to the form of electricity found in cars and boats. These modules are wired together and feed DC energy into an inverter. This inverter converts the DC electricity into AC (alternating current) electricity which is the typical electricity used in households annd businesses. This AC electricity can be used like normal electricity from the power grid.
